Southern Buttermilk Pie
If you’re in the mood for a classic Southern dessert, look no further than this Southern buttermilk pie recipe. This old-fashioned favorite is made with simple ingredients and comes together quickly for a delicious end to your meal.
INGREDIENTS:
1 Prepared pie crust, deep dish style
1 c Buttermilk
½ c Butter , softened
4 tbsp All purpose flour
1 c Sugar
2 tsp Vanilla extract
Pinch of nutmeg
3 eggs, Large
Pinch of salt
DIRECTIONS:
Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place the sugar and butter into a mixing bowl, and blend until smooth.
Add the eggs to the mixing bowl, and beat until well combined.
Mix in the flour, buttermilk, salt, vanilla and nutmeg. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Pour the mixture into the pie crust, and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until firm and cooked through.
Cool to room temperature before serving.
You can cover the edges of the crust with aluminum foil if they are browning too much.
