Homemade Pea and Ham Soup
INGREDIENTS:
1 ham hock (mine was just over 1kg)
1 celery stalk
2 carrots
1 onion
I potato
1 cup yellow split peas
1 cup green split peas
1 litre of boiling water
2 tablespoons Vegeta
1 bay leaf
2 cloves garlic crushed
S & P to taste
DIRECTIONS:
*Dice garlic, celery, carrots, onion and potato in small pieces and place in slow cooker
*Place the rest of the ingredients in with the vegetables along with the 1 litre of boiling water
*Cook for 4 hours in high heat
*When cooked remove ham hock and shred with 2 forks. Ladle soup in a bowl and top with shredded ham.
