German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut
German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut recipe is a classic hearty and filling German dish that is perfect for winter that will warm you from the inside out.
INGREDIENTS:
4 Large bone in center cut pork chops
1 Tbsp. Olive oil
2 lbs. Sauerkraut drained well
1 Large red apple peeled and diced
1 Onion chopped
⅔ C. Brown sugar
1 Tbsp. Caraway seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Heat the oil in a skillet over medium high heat on the stove.
Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and pepper to taste, and saute in the heated skillet for a few minutes on each side until browned.
Place the browned pork chops in the bottom of a well-greased 9×13 baking dish.
Add the sauerkraut, apple, onion, brown sugar, and caraway seeds to a large mixing bowl, and stir to combine.
Spread the sauerkraut mixture over the pork chops.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
