Easy Sausage Rolls
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound (450g) ground sausage
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Salt and pepper to taste
2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground sausage, chopped onion, minced garlic, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out one sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick.
Cut the puff pastry sheet into smaller rectangles, approximately 3 inches wide and 5 inches long.
Place a small amount of the sausage mixture along the center of each pastry rectangle.
Brush one long edge of the pastry with the beaten egg and fold the pastry over the sausage filling, pressing the edges together to seal. Repeat with the remaining pastry and sausage mixture.
Place the sausage rolls onto the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.
Brush the tops of the sausage rolls with the beaten egg to create a shiny glaze.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the sausage is cooked through.
Remove from the oven and let the sausage rolls cool slightly before serving.
These sausage rolls are delicious as a snack or appetizer. Enjoy!
